Creation of mineral resource base of strategic metals (by example of Prutivka complex copper-nikel and precions metal ore deposit) // Materials of the Seventh International Scientific and Practical Conference “Subsoil Use in Ukraine. Prospects of Investment (2021, Lviv). Vol. 1- K , State Commission of Ukraine for Mineral Resources, 2021. – P. 241—245.

The problem our own mineral resource base creation was considered relatively often since Ukraine became independent. However, this issue was never analyzed systematically. Besides, current investment demands during geological survey and ore processing scheme establishment were not taken into account. The purpose of the paper is estimating the available information on the prospectives of Prutivka complex sulphide copper-nickel ores deposit management and revealing the necessary steps to prepare the deposit to the development emphasizing its complexity. The paper analyzes the data of last 25 years published sources on the prospectives of Ukrainian territory ore content for colour and precious metals. It considers the potential platinum bearing and includes author’s experience and data. Lack and inconsistency of accessible information about the perspectiveness of Prutivka complex sulphide copper-nickel and precious metal ores deposit revealed. The need to change approaches to development and preparation of the deposit is proven. These approaches must be based on contemporary complex ore processing schemes taking into account modern investment demands. The final conclusions concerning the industrial importance and investment attractiveness of the Prutivka complex deposit can be done after the defined workflow based on the modern worldwide standards.

LLC NONFERROUS METALS OF UKRAINE has joined the network of the European Raw Materials Alliance – ERMA

The European Raw Materials Alliance (https://erma.eu/) was established in 2020 as part of the EU Critical Raw Materials Action Plan and the publication of the EU Critical Raw Materials List 2020. The main goal of ERMA is to reduce the dependence of European consumers of mineral resources on third countries, to diversify supplies from both primary and secondary sources and to improve resource efficiency.
The ERMA network includes hundreds of geological, mining, consulting companies and partners specializing in the extraction, processing and use of critical minerals.
Participation in the activities of the European Raw Materials Alliance gives us the opportunity to expand cooperation with European geological and mining companies, laboratories and universities that are partners of the Alliance.

Introduction. The growing interest in the possibility of obtaining certain types of strategic (critical) metals has prompted the intensification of research in this area.
Problem Statement. Many research works have dealt with creating a mineral resource base of strategic (critical) metals. However, this issue has not been systematically considered, and no respective industrial strategy has been developed so far. Insufficient attention is paid to modern investment requirements, especially during exploration and selection of ore processing schemes.
Purpose. The purpose of this research is to assess the available information on the prospects for the development of the Prutivskyi deposit of sulfide copper-nickel and precious metal ores and to outline the priority steps in order to prepare the deposit for integrated development.
Materials and Methods. Information from open (published) sources for the last 25 years, which concerns the ore-bearing capacity of Ukraine for precious and non-ferrous metals, in particular the potential platinum-bearing capacity, has been critically analyzed, given the authors’ knowledge and experience.
Results. The authors have shown the insufficiency of the available information on the prospects of the Prutivskyi deposit of sulfide copper-nickel and precious metal ores and the inconsistency of some sources. At present, about 20% of ore-promising rocks of the Prutivka intrusive massif has been studied with varying level of detail.
The authors have proven the necessity of changing approaches to the field preparation and development that should be based on modern schemes for integrated ore processing, given world investment requirements.
Conclusions. It has been shown that the final conclusion on the industrial significance and investment attractiveness of the Prutivskyi deposit can be made only after the implementation of a clearly defined set of works in compliance with modern world standards.

The history of study and main results of exploration works on the Prutivske deposit have been covered. The prospects for nickel-bearing capacity of hyperbasite massifs in the northwest part of the Ukrainian Shield in view of the last results of searches of sulfide copper-nickel ore deposits in the Far East of Russia have been determined.

Manifestations of nickel mineralization in the north-western part of the Ukrainian Shield is briefly characterized. The Prutovka sulphide copper-nickel ore manifestation revealed recently in the framing of the Buki gabbro-diorite-granodiorite massif is characterized at greater length. Ore manifestation, presented by the chalcopyrite-pentlandite-pyrrhotite association is spatially and paragenetically related to the gabbro-dolerite intrusion. Mineralization formation is explained by deep segregation and distribution of sulphide melt through faultings (following the injections of residual basic rock melt) from intermediate magmatic focus, whose earliest derivatives are rocks forming the Buki massif.

Nonferrous Metals of Ukraine LLC is planning a drilling program with a total scope of about 1,500 m

Nonferrous Metals of Ukraine LLC is planning a drilling program with a total scope of about 1,500 m with corresponding geological logging, a complex of geophysical logging and analytical tests. Increase of resource confidence categories, confirmation of resource quantity and quality in accordance with the requirements of international standards (JORC or NI-43-101) is expected.

Numerous intrusions of mafites and ultramafites are revealed in the frame of the Buki massif (the Ukrainian Shield). The epigenetic impregnated sulphide copper-nickel ores were found in two of them (Prutivka and Zaliznyaki). The chemistry of these intrusions is compared with intrusions of similar composition in nickel-bearing regions of the Soviet Union. A conclusion was made about the potential sulfide nickel mineralization of the massifs composed of pyroxenites and peridotites, which have positive petrochemical signs for the ores.
