Endogenous deposits of titanium and phosphate-titanium ores, in the former USSR, are concentrated within the
Dzhugdzhuro-Stanovo anorthosite belt, Ukrainian and Baltic shields. In Ukraine, they were discovered on the Korosten and Korsun-Novomyrhorod plutons. Within the boundaries of the Korosten pluton, these deposits are: Stremyhorodske, Torchynske, Kropyvnianske, Fedorivske, Vidybirske, Chepovychske, Davydkivske and others. On the Korsun-Novomyrhorod pluton, as a result of geological surveying and prospecting work, ilmenite and apatite-ilmenite ore occurrences with a high (up to 40% or more) TiO2 content were found in the gabroids: Nosachivskyi, Mezhyrichskyi, Kalinivskyi, Yuzhno-Tsvitkovskyi, Volkovskyi, Voronivskyi I and II, Tsvitkovskyi. Interest in the further study of these objects as potential sources of titanium raw materials and the expediency of carrying out geological exploration work are due, first of all, to the acute need for this raw material. There is a shortage in non-ferrous metallurgy and in the chemical industry (pigment Ti02). To date, the study of the titanium objects of the Korsun-Novomyrhorod pluton is insignificant, so one object is at the stage of extraction, one is prepared for development under conditions of commercial risk, for other objects, significant investments are needed in geological study and the preparation of at least a prefeasibility study and an assessment of the resource base according to international standards. We propose to determine on a competitive basis a company that, with private and investment funds, would carry out a geological study of the territory of the Korsun-Novomyrhorod pluton according to international standards and with the priority right of further development of the identified promising objects.

“Subsoil use in Ukraine. Investment prospects-2023”

Oleksiy Falkovych, Maria Kurylo, representatives of “Geological Service Company GSK” LLC took part in the work of the 8th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Subsoil Use in Ukraine. Investment Prospects”, which is organized by the State Commission on Mineral Reserves of Ukraine. More than 280 specialists participated in the work of the Conference, topical issues of the development of exploration, oil and gas and mining industries of Ukraine were considered (in total, more than 80 reports, which were viewed live by about 550 people). This year, the theme of the conference was expanded to include “Critical raw materials: global prospects for Ukraine”, “Renewable energy sources”, “Hydrogen – future energy prospects”.
As part of the Conference, the Round Table “Urgent Changes to the Classification of Mineral Reserves and Resources of the State Subsurface Fund” and the Workshop “Regulatory, Legal and Methodical Aspects of the Application of Different Classification Systems in Ukraine” were organized.
According to the results of the 8th International Scientific and Practical Conference: “Subsoil use in Ukraine. “Investment Prospects”, a collection of scientific materials of the Conference was created, which this year contains more than 110 theses, several of which were presented with the participation of employees of the Geological Service Company:
• in the section “Investment potential of the mineral and raw material base of Ukraine” presented the report “Prospects of investing in titanium objects of the Korsun-Novomyrhorod pluton” (Olexiy Falkovych, Mariia Kurylo);
• in the section “Methodology and practice of geological and economic assessment of mineral deposits according to different classification systems” report “Industrial importance and efficiency of development of iron ore deposits with insignificant reserves” (Olexiy Falkovych, Mariia Kurylo).
This event became a platform for us to share experiences and ideas, discussions, debates and form new approaches to challenges related to subsoil use.
